Newcomers

The purpose of the Newcomers ministry is to welcome visitors to Hickory Neck Church who may be searching for a church home and to inform visitors of the mission and ministry of Hickory Neck Church, as well as how they can become a part of our church family. Welcoming newcomers involves many activities:

  • Sunday Greeters extend a warm welcome to first time visitors, as well as to long time members.
  • Visitor Cards - be sure to fill one out the first time you visit Hickory Neck, so we can get to know you and provide you with information about our mission and ministries.
  • Newcomers’ Welcome Bags – 37 bags were delivered in 2007. All Newcomers’ bags have information about Hickory Neck Church, 1-2 copies of the most recent Nuggets newsletters, a note from the person making the delivery, and a loaf of homemade sweet bread prepared by a parishioner. Visitors living more than 25 miles from Hickory Neck receive information in the mail.
  • Sweet Bread Bakers – If you like to bake, please consider assisting this ministry.
  • Newcomers Socials & Orientations are held in the homes of parishioners so that newcomers and oldtimers can get to know each other.
