Hickory Neck Episcopal Church Is...
A Worshiping Church
First and foremost, we are Christians.We believe that God is alive and well and active in our day to day lives in the Williamsburg/James City County area through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our faith is rooted in the Word of God (the Holy Scriptures), in the historic creeds of Christendom, and in the witness of men and women throughout all ages. We believe that prayer and worship are the central activities of the Christian life and that it is a sacred responsibility of all Christians to join in regular corporate celebrations of the faith.

A Sacramental Church
We believe that God is not absent from His creation, but always present and at work. Through the sacraments of His Church, God sustains and empowers His people every step of the way to share in His own work and ministry to the world.

A Liturgical Church
We believe that we are called to worship God not as spectators but as active participants. The 1979 Book of Common Prayer not only guides our formal worship on Sunday mornings but also supports our day-to-day living and enhances every major event in our lives. All who share in the joy of the Resurrection are invited to the intimacy of honored guest at Our Lord's Table. We are committed to involving our children, from crib on up, in the full life of our church.

A Ministering Church
We believe that with bishops, priests and deacons, all of the baptized are called as ministers to represent Christ and His Church; to bear witness to Him wherever they may be; and, according to the gifts given to them, to carry on Christ's work–the ministry of reconciliation in the World.

An Episcopal Congregation in the Diocese of Southern Virginia, Blisland Parish
Our heritage reaches back to the Old Testament traditions of the ancient Hebrews into which Jesus was born. We look to the witness of the Early Church and its dynamic activity as reflected in the New Testament. Our vision is directed by the people of God who in every generation have walked with Him. Our roots are firmly planted in the historic faith of our forebears.

An Open Church
Our hearts and doors are ever open to newcomers, visitors and passersby. In an atmosphere of nurturing and growth, we are building a community of deepening faith, accepting one another, as we believe Jesus accepts us all. If you have no spiritual home, you are invited to become a part of our Community of Faith. Many of us were not raised in the Episcopal Church but have come to call Hickory Neck our church.

A Growing Church
We outgrew the historic chapel, which seats 70, and built the new chapel in 2006. We average 200 people attending 3 services each Sunday morning. There's plenty of room for you!
