Stewardship

Stewardship is about being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God. The tradition of giving back to God and to the church comes from the Biblical practice of “tithing,” which means to give back a tenth of our earnings to God (Numbers 18:26). The Episcopal Church sees stewardship as more than simply contributing money to the church; it’s also about contributing time and talents and volunteering for ministry and mission. It’s about reaching out to build relationships from a perspective of abundance instead of scarcity.

Each year, the Stewardship committee works to educate and encourage parishioners to make meaningful contributions to the Hickory Neck community using our time, treasure, and talent. Members of our community who are passionate about assisting in this vital ministry are encouraged to reach out.

One of the markers of membership at Hickory Neck is the investment of your time, talent, and treasure. Each member does this a bit differently and has to find the commitment(s) that best meets their gifts, availability, and interests. The good news is there are myriad opportunities for learning, fellowship, worship, and service.
