What should I expect?

We want you to come just as you are. When you walk through our doors you may see people in suits and ties, but you will also see people in jeans and t-shirts. We want to make sure when you visit you are comfortable and that is all that matters to us. As long you come through our doors, we want to make sure you feel loved and welcomed. If you ever need anything, always feel free to connect with us. We love to hear from our new visitors.

In addition, all baptized persons are ministers in the Church and we enjoy a strong partnership between ordained and lay persons at Hickory Neck. This passion for leadership thrives in our Vestry as well.

Hickory Neck parishioners pledge to the General Fund which supports our annual operating budget. Our annual operating budget allows us to provide weekly worship, education, fellowship, pastoral care, and outreach to our community on a weekly basis. This weekly offering can only happen when we financially support the costs of administration, buildings and grounds maintenance, supplies, and salaries. We at Hickory Neck Church support working toward tithing, so the annual budget can be fully funded, providing support for our growing, thriving congregation.

Stewardship is about being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God. The tradition of giving back to God and to the church comes from the Biblical practice of “tithing,” which means to give back a tenth of our earnings to God (Numbers 18:26). The Episcopal Church sees stewardship as more than simply contributing money to the church; it’s also about contributing time and talents and volunteering for ministry and mission. It’s about reaching out to build relationships from a perspective of abundance instead of scarcity.

VBS and Summer Choir Camp

There are some wonderful options this summer for the kids of Hickory Neck! This summer we are hosting Vacation Bible School (the first time since 2019!!) AND we are offering for the first time, Summer Choir Camp. Both VBS and the Choir Camp will be from July 29 through August 2. VBS is at 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Choir Camp is from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Based on ages, kids will have the opportunity to spend the whole day at HNC if they would like to do both VBS and Choir Camp.

This is a wonderful opportunity this Summer…you can sign your kids up for one or both of these great summer experiences.
Lunch will be available for children participating in BOTH VBS and Choir Camp.

Vacation Bible School (for ages three (potty trained of course) through those completing fifth grade)
The theme is “What Every Living Thing Needs” focusing on Psalms 104 and related stories about shelter, food, water, air and community. Each morning will include music, stories, crafts, yoga and other activities related to the daily theme.

Cost:
$20 for One Child
$30 for Two or More Children

Childcare is provided on-site for children ages 2 and under whose parents are volunteering with VBS.

Summer Choir Camp (for children having completed first grade and teens through twelfth grade)
This fun camp led by Music Director Stephen Trumbull and musicians and volunteers from the church, will consist of group singing along with private or small group voice and keyboard lessons, general music basics, introduction to percussion and string instruments, as well as an introduction to the pipe organ. Youth also enrolled in VBS in the morning will be provided lunch in between the two programs. Scholarships are available if there are financial concerns.
