Who We Are: Leadership
We are a group of dedicated individuals passionate about serving the Lord.
We as Christians believe that God is alive and well and active in our day-to-day lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our faith is rooted in the Word of God (the Holy Scriptures), in the historic creeds of Christendom, and in the witness of men and women throughout all ages. We believe that prayer and worship are the central activities of the Christian life and that it is a sacred responsibility of all Christians to join in regular corporate celebrations of the faith.
We are an Episcopal congregation in the Diocese of Southern Virginia and part of the Episcopal Church whose membership includes 109 dioceses and 17 nations. We are a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
We have members who come from an evangelical background and are active in Cursillo, and we have members who prefer the more ancient liturgy of a high church. In Christ we all come together “to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ” (BCP 855).
Whether you come to us from another faith tradition, as a lifelong Episcopalian, or with more questions than faith, at Hickory Neck you will find a warm welcome and a home. We are excited to get to know you. Please join us.
Worship, spiritual direction, pastoral care, and Christian formation are primary responsibilities of our priests. In addition, all baptized persons are ministers in the Church and we enjoy a strong partnership between ordained and lay persons at Hickory Neck. This passion for leadership thrives in our Vestry as well.
